Shilla Fire 2005:

Hindustan Times Friday Nov. 4. 2005.

Unfortunately it happened so, that an electric failure in one house in Shilla,
started a fire which rapidly spread out trough all of Shilla.
It burning down around 80 houses. Only a few houses were spared.
Shilla is located aproximately 2000M./6500Ft. above sea level,
and is not yet directly in contact with the surrounding area by road,
only by feet you can get there.
So there were no help for Shilla from outside, at the time of the fire.
But right now a road is under construction,
thanks to the influence and good will og Anurag Sood.
So the Shilla people had a very hard winther this time.
In Shilla the snow can get up to 4-5m/13-16ft high, and it's very cold there,
and many Shilla people had to live in small tents last winther.

Thanks to Mr. Gunnar Mühlmann, it was possible to collect a good amount of money,
which were sendt to Mr. Anurag Sood who in public gave it over to the restoration of Shilla.
Anurag bought a lot of: tents, blankets and other nessesary things to the Shilla people.
Who were in immediate need of help to survive the rough winther in the Himalayas.

The Shilla people are in need of help from the outside,
and every year when we visit them, we bring a small amount of nessesary things.
We brought a lot of clothes and teddybears to the children.
And this time Gunnar and Dahlia is working on getting some used laptops to Asha's project in Kasol.
